Northern Cardinals, sp. name “ Cardinalis Cardinalis”
Description:
Medium size songbird, male species have bright red body and wings with bits of black on the wing edges, conical shape beak, masked face in black.
Females: Back and wings is pale green with tinges of red, chest and belly a pale orange, red crown. Males and females have the distinctive rising crown and black masked face.
They are our most assiduous visitors of our feeders, there’re times when I count more than twelve
feeding or waiting their turn to eat.
The cardinals are one of my favorite birds!
Very popular bird, well known and easy to identify by almost every one. I could bet money that at one point or another most persons have seen a Cardinal, male or female.
